Hello,
I have a question about reducing the size of a DOORS database.
During the last 2 years, the size of the archive of the DOORS database increased by about 300%, while the content added to the database was surely below 50%.
I could not find something about this in the user guides.
Is there a way of "cleaning" the database?
I am currently using DOORS 8.1
Kind regards,
Axel Werner

Try:
-
Purging deleted objects/modules
-
Baselining

Purging should work, but baselining will only make the database larger. Baselining modules improves module performance, not database size.

Thanks,
purging delete-marked objects reduced the archive size in the order of some percent. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem.

Axel

Do you have Administrator access to DOORS? Perhaps there are projects/folders that are hidden from your account.
Though I don't know the specifics of how to do this, I'm sure you could list all folders within your DOORS folder today, then do it tomorrow and compare file sizes of each file. There are probably some UNIX commands that will compare this for you, or maybe you could use a tool like subversion.
Either way, once you monitor where the growth is, you can then start to figure out why this is happening.

History will make the database larger, even if the size of the data remains unchanged. Baselining will make it larger. Databases grow in size as they are used, that's the way it is.

Is your database contains some tables, pictures which are causing an increase in database size?
please check and try to reduce no of tables and pictures and then check again the database size
